Post-doctoral
A post-doctoral fellow position in organic chemistry
The Laboratory of Chemical Biology in Plants (Dr. Roy Weinstain) is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work on interdisciplinary projects to develop new methods to control and deliver small molecules in plants.
As a postdoc working on this project, you would design and execute the synthesis of complex organic molecules. You will have the opportunity to learn how to work with plants to test the molecules, or this could be done in collaboration with lab members. You will learn how to work with experimental systems and equipment used in the lab.
Additionally, you would be an active lab member, contributing to routine lab maintenance, participating in group meetings, and selected teaching/outreach activities. You would also write reports and papers and prepare presentations for national and international conferences.
Your profile
A highly motivated scientist with a strong background in organic synthesis and compound characterizations. Have experience with all relevant analytical and lab techniques and the ability to analyze and summarize experimental data. Independent and resourceful in developing bold solutions to research problems.
A Ph.D. degree in chemistry by the time of taking up the appointment and proficiency in oral and written English are formal requirements.
What we offer
We are a dynamic, interdisciplinary, medium-sized lab (4-6 students, typically) working at the interface of chemistry and biology. We work on developing chemical biology methods to study and control biological processes in living systems, mainly in plants. World-class infrastructure is available in our lab, the department, or at the various joint facilities of Tel Aviv University.
We offer a post-doctoral position for one year with the possibility of an additional 2-3 years extension. The stipend level will be according to Tel Aviv University pay scale when taking up the position (100-120K NIS).
Place of work
School of Plant Science and Food Security, Faculty of Life Sciences, Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel
Start of employment
Employment start date to be mutually agreed upon.
Please submit your application as a single PDF file, including a motivation letter, CV, and a copy of your most important publication, along with a short statement of its significance.
